Guides to CBP Inspections

Anti-Terrorism Contraband Enforcement Team Hold (A-TCET)

CBP-CET inspections are generally performed at CBP’s warehouse but can at times occur inside our facility, or during vessel operations. Container movement to/from CET’s warehouse are planned and completed in the manner requested by CBP and do not require any interaction from the cargo to schedule deliveries/pick-ups.

 

NII – VACIS (X-Ray) Hold

VACIS (Vehicle and Cargo Inspection System) more commonly known as a Non-Intrusive Inspection (NII) are performed at CBP’s VACIS site located in the Southport section of Port Everglades. Unless otherwise instructed by CBP, container movements to/from VACIS are prioritized in order of 1) perishable cargo and 2) all other cargoes. Appointments are not required for container movements and no additional interaction with cargo is needed unless that requested by CBP.

 

CBP – Trade Enforcement Exam

CBP Trade Enforcement Exams are performed at CBP’s Customs Examination Station (CES) located inside Port Everglades’ Free Trade Zone (FTZ). The CES is operated by International Warehouse Services (IWS), not by Port Everglades Terminal (PET). It is the responsibility of the cargo owner or their representative (e.g., a customs broker) to schedule an appointment with the CES. The movement of container to/from the CES are by appointment and in the order requested by the CES. Below please find some helpful tips on planning your CBP Intensive Examinations.

 

1)     Contact IWS to schedule your examination at www.iws1.com or (954) 763-7551.

2)     Share your appointment confirmation form (CES Form) via email to operations@petpev.com.

3)     Remain in contact with the CES for inspection statuses and release.

4)     Once a release is confirmed, share your CES Release Form with operations@petpev.com.

 

The return of containers shall be scheduled for the same day when notice is provided prior to 12:00 pm daily .Otherwise, they shall be planned for the next working day.

 

CBP – AQI Tail Gate Exam

AQI Tailgate Exams are planned prior the unloading of containers from an arrived vessel. Containers placed on hold by CBP AQI are placed into the inspection area directly from discharge in the order in which they unload and prioritized by 1) perishable cargoes and 2)all other cargoes. Tailgate examinations performed at PET do not require an appointment or any interaction from the cargo unless requested by CBP AQI.

CBP AQI Selective Intensive Exams are performed at CBP’s Customs Examination Station (CES) located inside Port Everglades’ Free Trade Zone (FTZ). CBP/AQI Fumigation Hold

USDA Fumigation site is located inside Port Everglades’ Free Trade Zone (FTZ) and is operated by F & F Fumigation Co, not by Port Everglades Terminal (PET). It is the responsibility of the cargo owner or their representative (e.g., a customs broker) to schedule an appointment with F & F Fumigation Co. The movement of container to/from the fumigation site are by appointment and in the order requested by the site. Below please find some helpful tips on planning your fumigations at F & F.

3)     Remain in contact with F & F for ongoing statuses and releases.
