Guide to Dispute or request Fee Mitigation for Port Demurrage, Line Demurrage, and/or Line Detention Charges

To initiate a dispute or seek fee mitigation, refund, or waiver pertaining to port demurrage, line demurrage, and/or line detention charges, adherence to the following protocol is imperative. By following these steps and providing the necessary documentation and information, you can effectively request a refund of previously settled demurrage and/or detention fees through the Disputes Mitigation Team.

Timeframe: Any dispute must be formally submitted within thirty (30) calendar days from the date the contested charge was settled.

Free Time Rules: The prevailing free time rules shall remain applicable unless an alternative remedy is stipulated by the reviewing team. Payment Receipt Verification: Submission of irrefutable proof of payment is mandatory to validate the identity of the party petitioning for a refund, which must be the same as the entity detailed on the payment receipt.

Basis for Dispute and Mitigation: Provide proof that payor identified on the payment receipt affirms as the party that contracted with the ocean carrier for transportation, whether as the shipper directly or in the capacity of the designated agent.

Detail your dispute: The dispute to formally request fee mitigation, refund, or waiver must include details specific to the demurrage and/or detention charges.

Description: A detailed explication accompanied by substantiating evidence delineating the incorrect nature of the charges is required.

Additional Documentation:  Include copies of relevant documents with your request.

Submission Protocol: The dispute, along with all pertinent documentation, is to be sent to PET’s Disputes & Mitigation Team via electronic mail ONLY at disputes@petpev.com.Please note that mitigation requests transmitted via facsimile or any alternative method outside of electronic mail shall not be processed.

Follow-Up Procedure: After submitting your request, a member of our Team will promptly acknowledge receipt of the dispute and furnish an anticipated timeline for review.

Review and Response: Await the team's decision and follow any further instructions provided. A final decision may take up to thirty (30) calendar days from the date a dispute is filed.
